Eating Out: Brunetti Carlton (part 3)

More Brunetti adventures happened on the weekend as part of my dear friend, David's birthday celebrations. We headed to Brunetti which was across the road from an Indian vegetarian restaurant we dined at earlier which I will review later on for you all.
Being a large group we had to skulk around for a place to sit, but once we found one it was a competition who could consume the most amount of calories (well not really but you feel like you could get diabetes just walking into the place!)
For me, Nutella tastes good on anything. And I'm a big fan of cheesecakes made with ricotta cheese, so this combination sounded delicious immediately for me. I've been wanting to try this for a while so I decided it was time to cave in a give it a whirl. It didn't disappoint either! The cheesecake was light and fluffy, accompanied with the lovely dollop of my childhood favorite, Nutella.
Just the right serving size, any bigger and I would have exploded.
I know what you're thinking, "This doesn't look like any creme caramel I've ever had before". Well according to the label, this is a creme caramel with a large amount of chocolate on top! It's needless to say my friend Jason who ordered this suffered a chocolate hang over, desperately wanting water soon after this dessert!

It's the ultimate dessert destination, it's where I go to get my calorie fix. It has the best Italian coffee, and it's always is hard to find a seat to enjoy your treats.
The original and the best Brunetti is in Carlton, however there are other stores in Camberwell and Melbourne CBD.
I've been a few more times since the original post, and after seeing fellow bloggers Where's The Beef do multiple postings on Brunetti's, I decided I'd do the same. So check them out if you want more food porn to drool over.
This was a chocolate mousse with a layer of mint mousse at the bottom. So delicious and sweet, this chocoholic couldn't actually finish it. I wish I took the rest home to eat at another time, oh well! There is always next time!!
Yet another chocolate mousse, this time with dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate layers with a small sponge cake at the bottom. So light and fluffy, definitely one of my favorites.
Chocolate mousse again (are you sensing a theme here?) in a chocolate shell with crushed hazelnuts. So delicious, although quite a lot of chocolate, I would recommend a glass of water after this one!

Brunetti's is not just a cafe, it's an institution.
The original branch is just off Lygon Street, in Melbourne. It spans over 3 shop fronts with every possible cake, chocolate, pastry, gelati, dessert you can imagine. Instead of 1 coffee machine, there is about 4 with just as many if not more baristas taking care of all the coffee orders that never seem to stop coming in.
The cakes line the shop front window, making anyone stop in their tracks and admire the fine work of the pastry chefs.
We were lucky to get a table, walking around for about 5 minutes we sat outside.
Coffees were ordered and we took turns to go and get our desserts.
Iron Chef Alana and her boy got tiramisu:
I got a layered mousse: pistachio, strawberry and chocolate. It was so light and delicious, the perfect portion size.
Iron Chef Rob got some nibbles to take home:
If you are EVER in Melbourne I cannot recommend this place enough! Although be aware it's always busy. Even if you can't get a seat, get something to take away! You will not be disappointed.
