So my first proper Korean food experience was in Perth a couple of months ago. We couldn't help but notice the vast amount of Korean restaurants scattered over Perth so we decided to try one for lunch towards the end of our trip.

Each table has a Korean BBQ in the centre, but we thought between the 2 of us we wouldn't be able to try a good variety of food to BBQ, so we just ordered off the menu.

I got the Jap Chae because it sounded so simple and delicious. And if it was a traditional favorite, there must be a reason why.
It didn't disappoint either, full of flavour, I could have eaten another one straight after it. The noodles were clear, glassy like but were a bit chewy. I really liked them, probably a bit too much capsicum for me but the beef was so tender. I need to find somewhere that serves this in Melbourne so I can get my fix.


My boy got the Kimchi Bokgum Bap because he wanted something with Kimchi in it to find out what it was all about.
This was a very nice dish, however very spicy... on the way in and out if you know what I mean ;)
He consumed a lot of fluid whilst eating this one because it was so spicy!

As I mentioned, I have recently been to Perth for a holiday.
My boyfriend had been to Perth 2 years ago and fell in love with a beer called "Little Creatures". He got me onto it and we even ventured down to the Little Creatures dining hall in Melbourne.

The Little Creatures brewery is located in Fremantle. This is about a 20 minute train trip from the city of Perth. We ended up going twice since we loved the food so much.
Whilst my boyfriend loves the beer, I much prefer the Pipsqueak Cider. It is truly the best cider and I have a t-shirt to prove it!

As it is a dining hall, the atmosphere is pretty laid back, just like most of Western Australia. Waiters and waitresses were more than helpful. The menu was pretty much the same as Melbourne. As it is a seasonal menu I was a bit disappointed the cinnamon doughnuts were not available for dessert.


My favorite side dish / starter was the "frites". Unpeel potato chips, fried and served with a sour cream mayo. So yum!! I'm actually craving these now as I write.


On our first trip we shared a chorizo and sweet corn pizza, and tiger prawns wrapped in proscuitto.


Both were presented so nicely and absoulely delicious!
The pizza base was thin and crispy, and the prawns just melted in your mouth.

The next time down we took my parents down and they also enjoyed the food.


They had the prawn pizza with corriander pesto. I didn't get to try it but it smelt and looked very good!

And I had the most delicious chilli tomato mussells you will ever see! (they might not look like much here but they came in thick tomato chilli soup which you could soak up with the bread) The most amazing mussell dish I think I've ever had, other than the prawn and mussell spaghetti my mum cooked up the next evening!

So I've been very slack with my postings haven't I?
I've had some lovely messages from people saying they visit often for new recipes and I've been letting them down by not posting! Sorry!!

Well currently in my oven is a batch of cupcakes to celebrate my blog turning 1 year old! I'll post them up when the actually birthday is.

I recently spent a week in Perth and LOVED it! I'd love to move over there one day, or to near by Fremantle.

Some of the treats I enjoyed on my travels:

Frozen Snow - Lychee flavour. A block of frozen lychee juice shaved into a cup. The texture was all flakey and looked a bit like fairy floss. Perfect refreshment for a hot summer day.

Free canapes! Our hotel served free canapes and drinks between 6pm-7:30pm. We went EVERY night. You get sick of them towards the end but our waiter was always so much fun.



One of my favorite food chains, Croissant Express. They have croissants, sausage rolls, fresh sandwiches and the most amazing bagels! Why don't we have these in Melbourne I'll never know!
